Coca-Cola SoundWave train departs from Copenhagen
The Coca-Cola Soundwave Summer has kicked off in style. Last weekend Copenhagen saw both the first Coca-Cola Soundwave festival and the inauguration of the Coca-Cola Soundwave train.
The Coca-Cola SoundWave festival season started with Zulu Rocks on Saturday night, where Snoop Dogg, Avril Lavigne, Nephew, Nik&Jay, Natasha Bedingfield, Nobody Beats The Beats and Ataf played to a packed Parken Stadium. Hosted by Danish national favourite comedian Jan Elhøj, the evening was ideal as warm weather coincided with the start of student holidays. An early evening set by Avril Lavigne with her distinctive brand of pop rock brought a great afternoon to a close, while headline act Snoop had everyone jumping with his classic hip-hop beats.
However, for the 250 lucky Coca-Cola Soundwave winners at the event there was only one way to warm up: The Coca-Cola Soundwave train. Departing from Copenhagen Central Station around miday the train rocked through the countryside for four hours of fun before winners were transported to the event.
On board, a live music carriage showcased some top up and coming Danish talent. Alternative rockers Dial Zero played an energetic set while Miss-J injected some serious funk with her infectious and up-beat tunes. Meanwhile, DJ Dex got the party moving in every sense in the Club carriage. It all brought to life the Soundwave spirit of discovery by offering guests new music and new ways of experiencing music.
In between sets passengers could chill out with a drink at the bar, try their own percussion skills in the Rhythm Lounge, visit the style room for a new festival look or even find out their fortune with a visit to the on board sooth-sayer.
Next stop for the Coca-Cola Soundwave train is Sweden where the train will party on June 22 before the Coca-Cola SoundWave concert in Stockholm. That night will see a further performance from Avril Lavigne, plus Simple Plan, Poets of the Fall and Melody Club.
Coca-Cola SoundWave is a new, international programme from Coca-Cola that celebrates music, travel and the thrill of new experiences. Launching in this summer, it brings together young music lovers from across Europe and encourages them to share in the exciting discovery of new music from different countries. Coca-Cola SoundWave will open the door to the world of music, and map the route for the ultimate musical journey.
Coca-Cola SoundWave will transport approximately 1,000 lucky top prize winners from all around Europe by plane, train, bus and even boat to one of seven international music events. These include Benicàssim in Spain, Eurockéennes de Belfort in France, Dance Valley in The Netherlands and Rock’n Coke in Turkey.
Through national promotions music fans can win tickets and transport to a festival abroad: a journey of musical discovery promising a host of unique musical experiences before even arriving on site.
